Jamaica and El Salvador draw 1-1 in the Gold Cup
The Jamaican national team drew 1-1 with their counterparts from El Salvador this Sunday, a result that allows both teams to advance to the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Gold Cup in Group C.
In the match played at the Alamodome stadium in the texan city of San Antonio, El Salvador scored through striker Nelson Bonilla (15), while Jamaica equalized through forward Darren Mattocks (64, from penalty).
With the result, both teams advance to the quarterfinals. With the draw, Jamaica reached five points, while El Salvador reached four points, which put them in the next phase as one of the two best third-place teams along with Honduras from Group A.

On the other hand, the 'Selecta' recovered from a poor start against Mexico and regained ground with a 2-0 victory over Curacao. In this match, the Salvadorans, led by striker Rodolfo Zelaya, woke up offensively but realized they need to improve their aim.
"We hope that in the match against Jamaica, we can convert more chances. That's what we desire the most," said Colombian coach Eduardo Lara, who has the goal of reaching the quarterfinals.
"I want to tell the Salvadoran people that we are working to achieve what we want, to advance to the next round," Lara added.
