The Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Álvarez, one of the captains of the Celta de Vigo first team, traveled to Peru on Thursday, where the Spanish club will inaugurate its first football school in the town of Paita, in Piura, on Friday.
"The football player took a plane to Peru on Thursday to be part of the inauguration and to convey the values of RC Celta to the children of the new school," the club emphasizes in its statement.
In addition, Celta de Vigo, presided over by Carlos Mouriño, highlights that it is a project with "a strong solidarity accent" because the objective is to help young people "at risk of social exclusion".
A month ago, the captain of Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos, was in Piura performing social work with children from the northern region of Peru, hand in hand with UNICEF. With Sergio Álvarez, he would be the second LaLiga Santander star to visit our country in 2017. Great initiative by Celta de Vigo.
