In the face of the appointment of Pablo Zegarra as the brand-new coach of Sporting Cristal's first team, the rimense board contacted Erick Torres to take charge of the Reserve team.

Statement

In response to the departure of Pablo Zegarra as head coach of the first team, replacing the dismissed José 'Chemo' del Solar, the board of Sporting Cristal has already appointed a coach to take charge of the Reserve team. It is the former beer midfielder, Erick 'El Charapa' Torres.

Erick Torres is currently the coach of the Binacional Municipal School in Arequipa, a team that participates in the Copa Peru, and until last year he coached Deportivo Hualgayoc de Cajamarca, a team that reached the grand final of the Copa Peru, where Sport Rosario was the champion.

Career

Erick Torres began his professional career at Unión Huaral (1992-1993), Sporting Cristal (1994-2005), José Gálvez (2006 and 2011), Alianza Lima (2007), Universidad César Vallejo (2008-2010), and Los Caimanes (2012).

The former midfielder of Sporting Cristal, Erick Torres, also participated in that great campaign carried out by the brewers in 1997, where they reached the final of the Copa Libertadores against Cruceiro from Brazil. The 'Charapa' was a starter in the midfield and was one of the celestial references, he is a homegrown player and that is why the Sporting Cristal board has thought of him to replace Pablo Zegarra.

Erick Torres is also a five-time champion with Sporting Cristal, winning the national titles in 1994, 1995, and 1996, as well as the national championships in 2002 and 2005. The leaders of La Florida have agreed to call the former midfielder again to discuss the possibility of leaving Arequipa and coming to coach the Reserve team of the celestials, where they are currently leading the championship.

Now the ball is in Erick Torres' court, who will have to evaluate the proposal and if he accepts it, he will have to do a good job because Pablo Zegarra has set the bar high by keeping the reserve team of the celestials as the leaders.
