Pablo Zegarra presented as new interim coach of Sporting Cristal
Pablo Zegarra was presented on Tuesday as the new interim coach of Sporting Cristal in La Florida. The former player expressed his happiness and excitement to take charge of the club.
"I consider that I have a squad that any coach would like to have. I have more than enough team to get out of this moment and start fighting for important things," said Zegarra in a press conference.
"I take it as a professional and I am convinced of getting out of this bad moment. We know that this is football and it is a very specific thing. You can work very well as Chemo (del Solar) and his coaching staff have been doing, but the results don't go our way," he added.
The time.
Asked about the contract, the former reserve team coach made it clear that if the results don't go well, he has no problem stepping aside.
"It doesn't matter if they hire you for 2 years or if they say let's see how day by day goes, match by match. I have no problem with that because it's a paper issue. I have worked today and if tomorrow they tell me I have to go back to the reserve team or go back to Spain, I will return," he emphasized.
His coaching staff will consist of his brother Carlos Zegarra, Martín Hidalgo, Rubén Mora (fitness coach), and a trusted person who will arrive from Spain. His first test will be this Sunday when Sporting Cristal hosts Ayacucho FC at the Alberto Gallardo Stadium.
