The anger almost cost Sporting Cristal
Sporting Cristal midfielder Gabriel Costa let himself be carried away by the heat of the game and almost left his team with ten players against Melgar. Referee Luis Garay spared his life in a strong foul against Colombian Omar Fernández from Melgar.
It happened at 54 minutes. 'Gabi', who already had a yellow card, went to dispute a ball with Fernández. The Uruguayan's elbow hit the head of the 'Domino' player. Despite the complaints, the referee called the foul, but did not show a card.
Celeste coach 'Chemo' Del Solar noticed that his player had lost control. He immediately ordered Ray Sandoval to replace Gabriel Costa. The player left the field with a not-so-friendly face.
Melgar dominates the match against Sporting Cristal at the Monumental de la UNSA stadium and comfortably wins 4-1. Three goals by Argentine Emanuel Herrera and another by Patricio Arce. The consolation goal was scored by Irven Ávila.
