The Peruvian pisco "Demonio de los Andes" won the gold medal for being "the best spirituous and transparent drink" in the contest 'Les Citadelles du Vin', which took place a few days ago in the city of Burdeos in France.
"In the city of Burdeos, the 'Demonio de los Andes acholado' pisco has won the gold quality medal, among more than 30 producers (...) The contest is one of the most renowned in the world," said José Antonio Olaechea, pisco producer, to radio Exitosa.
"We have competed against spirituous drinks from Spain and France. Chilean aguardiente participated in these events in previous years, but since it does not appear in the medal table, it is not known who has lost," added the pisco producer.
José Antonio Olaechea believes that this award obtained in France is great news for the Peruvian industry and for pisco.
