Oman squad list
This was Oman's squad list for their two knockout games against Palestine and Iraq.
Iraq, if it wins, pulls away from the rest and dreams of the World Cup
The Iraq national football team, coached by Spain's Jesús Casas García, ranked 56th in the FIFA rankings, will be looking for a win in this match to pull away from their rivals in the group and fight for the second direct qualification place for the World Cup with Jordan. They have won two games, drawn two and lost one.
Wins over Oman and Palestine, plus draws against Kuwait and Jordan, and a loss to South Korea, put them third in the standings with eight points, the same as Jordan in second.
The Lions of Mesopotamia will be looking to continue their good run of form against the Omanis, having won two consecutive home games against them.
Oman, if it wins, fights for direct qualification spot
Oman's national football team, coached by Oman's Rashid Jaber, ranked 80th in the FIFA rankings, will be looking to win this match to give themselves a chance of challenging for a direct World Cup qualification spot with five games remaining, having won two matches and lost three.
Wins over Kuwait and Palestine, plus losses to Iraq, South Korea and Jordan, have them in fourth place in Group B with six points, two behind Iraq and Jordan, who are in direct qualification.
The Al-Ahmars will be looking for another win against the Iraqis, the last time being on 4 June 2013 also in World Cup qualifying when they beat them 1-0. Since that game there have been five draws and two Iraqi wins.
