Juan Reynoso's words about the relocation of the home game from Paraguay to Ciudad del Este are still a topic of discussion in the country of Peru's next opponent, as Miguel Almirón, the star player of the Albirroja, spoke about the new home of his national team.
"Whether it's in Ciudad del Este, Defensores (del Chaco), or Nueva Olla, we are motivated by wearing the national team jersey and playing the matches. In the places where I have played, the fans have always supported us. In Ciudad del Este, we played against Ecuador and the people supported us a lot," said the Newcastle player upon arriving in Paraguay to join his national team's concentration.
It is worth noting that the coach of Peru stated that both teams would be "visitors" in Ciudad del Este and criticized the condition of the field at the stadium where they will face Paraguay, considering the change of home ground for the Albirroja as part of a "war of strategies."
At 29 years old, Miguel Almirón has yet to experience playing in a World Cup and, in that regard, he mentioned what it means to him to participate in a qualifying campaign for a World Cup tournament.
"The happiness of always being in the national team and once again facing the qualifiers with hope and faith. We will work hard to do better in these qualifiers," he said.
Peru and Paraguay will face each other on Thursday, September 7, starting at 5:30 PM (Peruvian time) at the Antonio Aranda Stadium, for the first match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
