Selection of Peruvian national team calls up Carlos Ascues
The coach of the Peruvian national team, Juan Reynoso, decided to include Carlos Ascues, midfielder of Universidad César Vallejo, in the list of players called up for the matches against Paraguay and Brazil for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
This decision was made after it was known that the players Anderson Santamaría and Pedro Aquino suffered injuries in their respective clubs and after their recent matches in the Mexican League.
This situation did not go unnoticed by sports journalist Erick Osores, who used his social media to launch a surprising message after learning of the inclusion of 'Patrón' for the first double match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
"Incredible. Carlos Ascues has been called up as an emergency for the matches against Paraguay and Brazil for the qualifiers," said the aforementioned communicator on his Twitter account.
