Emelec and Guarani drew 1-1 in the rematch held on Wednesday in Guayaquil, for Group B of the 2023 Copa Sudamericana, leaving the visiting team on the verge of the round of 16. In a rainy match, the "electric" club took the lead with a goal from Uruguayan midfielder Diego Garcia (13 minutes), but allowed Paraguayan Romeo Benitez to equalize (39), replicating the 1-1 draw from the first leg played on May 3rd.
