About the Peruvian National Team
The Peruvian national team will face Paraguay in a new friendly match, with an eye towards the qualifying process for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Prior to the match in Lima, Guillermo Barros Schelotto, the coach of the Paraguayan team, analyzed the current situation of the renewed 'Blanquirroja'.
"We know the coach and the players, despite being in a new process. Ricardo Gareca has just left and even though Juan Reynoso is new, we already know his style from Mexican football. Through the players he has and his way of playing, we will see how to face Peru," highlighted the strategist.
Likewise, Schelotto explained that he will use variations this time, although not in his complete team: "We don't think about changes as a system, but naturally they occur, due to age, and we have to think about the qualifiers, which will start next year. I have to project, see what is coming, what we have, and analyze for the future," he said.
On the other hand, the 'Mellizo' expressed satisfaction with the results of the work he has been doing with the Paraguayan national team. "We are happy with how we have reacted in the matches we have played after the previous qualifying process," he stated.
"The squad is growing and this is a nice match to study how we are doing. We are sure that we will have the stadium (Monumental) and the fans against us, but it's the typical game of the qualifiers," he added.
Finally, Guillermo Barros Schelotto expressed no concern about the schedule for next year: "We are prepared for when the competition to qualify for the World Cup begins. If it's in March, great; and if it's in June, we will also be ready. Either way, I think we are gradually finding the team we want. We have played consistently with the style we intend and that is favorable," he said.
