The Nation / Chaco: Ayoreos denounce invasion.

The native community of Alto Paraguay requested Congress, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Ministry of the Interior to establish themselves in the lands that they occupy and, as they claim, have property titles.

In a letter sent to these institutions, the leaders of the native population argue that they have suffered from the invasion of their lands by Brazilian and Paraguayan citizens who cut down trees in the reserve and deforest the forests.

The complaint by the Ayoreo indigenous people also mentions that the invaders use machinery and that, when asked to stop cutting down trees, they claim to have authorization to do so.

"We have property titles that prove that the lands are ours. All we ask is that lawmakers, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Ministry of the Interior come to our community to verify this. We are the ones suffering from the invasion," states part of the letter sent to the authorities.
