Paulo Da Silva spoke this Thursday with Fútbol a lo Grande on radio Monumental on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of Club Libertad. He was asked, among other things, why he chose to play for the third most successful team in the local First Division.
"First, because it's a stable club, it's a very welcoming club, I think it doesn't make much noise. I also have a great relationship with Mr. Horacio (Cartes)," he said about the current honorary president of Guma.
"I am very grateful to him, to the board, and to all my teammates, who make each day much better than I expected," added the 40-year-old veteran defender, who is in his third season at the institution.
NO TO THE CYCLONE. At another moment, the legendary defender was asked about conversations with other teams, including Cerro Porteño. Paulo assured that there were clear expressions from the blue and gold team, but an inconvenience arose.
"I had asked for something, not in terms of money, at the time they put an obstacle. Still, I am very grateful, the fact that they were interested in me is something very nice (...) They offered me a one-year contract and I wanted two," he explained.
Paulo also pointed out that the blue and gold team wanted to sign a contract based on productivity. "I think I can't question if I had to play 70 minutes, my situation was clear in Club Libertad, because if I don't get to play, I am not uncomfortable, because I can also contribute from the outside," he emphasized.
