Sanabria Breaks the tie with a powerful shot
Sanabria, former player of Real Betis and Roma, started in the lineup chosen by coach Davide Nicola and broke the tie in the 7th minute with a powerful right-foot shot from inside the penalty area.
His appearance lasted only 45 minutes and he was replaced at the beginning of the second half by Andrea Pinamonti, to form the attack alongside Macedonian Goran Pandev.
The Paraguayan's goal was of paramount importance for Genoa as they narrowly avoided falling behind just before halftime, when Marco Mancosu missed his second consecutive penalty by shooting well above the goal defended by Mattia Perin.
Mancosu redeemed himself after an hour of play with the goal that temporarily equalized the score, but luck sided with Genoa in the final stretch and in the 80th minute, a shot from outside the box by Polish player Filip Jagiello hit the post and rebounded off the back of Brazilian goalkeeper Gabriel Vasconcelos, ending up in the back of the net.
With these three points, Genoa secured a four-point margin above the relegation zone, currently occupied by Lecce, with four rounds left to play in Serie A.
