One of the best goalkeepers in the history of football, showed his respect and admiration for the Peruvian Johnny Vegas, the third goalkeeper with the most goals worldwide after Rogerio Ceni and the Paraguayan.
"We have not faced each other but I have always followed your career. You were a spectacular goalkeeper, very fast, good game with your feet, ahead of your time... you are a living legend in the world of football," said the Paraguayan former goalkeeper to journalist Ricardo Castillo of NKnoticias TV.
"We have always collaborated to leave a legacy. What you do is also very good because, undoubtedly, playing the style of play that we had, nowadays everyone looks at how they play in the big leagues. We were ahead of our time," added Chilavert.

Peruvian former goalkeeper who scored 45 goals (40 goals in the first division, 1 goal in the Copa Sudamericana, and 4 goals in the second division) in his career, responded to the praise and agreed with Chilavert's analysis of their playing style.
"I agree with what you say. I speak to many coaches and I tell them 'we used to do this'. Trying to play from the back and make a 40, 60 meter pass... now, jumping the lines is very difficult. Everyone thinks that goalkeepers have to play like Ter Stegen, and we used to do it ourselves, each one in their own country," he said.
