Vice President of Cerro Porteño, Juan José Zapag, talks about salary reductions

Juan José Zapag, vice president of Cerro Porteño, spoke on Wednesday on Fútbol a lo Grande about the proposed salary reduction of 50% for the players during the months of suspension.

Zapag commented that they have paid the full salaries for January and February, with a total of $1,500,000. However, the board decided unilaterally to only pay 50% of the salaries for March, April, May, and June, with the promise to pay the full amount starting from July with another payment proposal.

"The important thing is that the proposal has been made and whether it is accepted or not, football will begin. We have to focus on the work. The proposal is there, the doors will be opened for us when football returns, and we will gradually normalize the situation," Zapag said.

"This is what Cerro proposed and what we will do. We cannot be talking about salaries all day," he concluded.

Juan José Zapag said that at this moment, the team must focus on observing the health protocol and aim for the return of the championship to be protagonists. He also mentioned that there would be no reinforcements or any type of investments because the goal is to fulfill the contracts of the current players in the team.
