Marco Trovato, President of Olimpia, speaks out on the return of football in Paraguay
Marco Trovato, President of Olimpia, expressed his opinion on the return of football and the resumption of training in a series of tweets aimed directly at the Paraguayan Football Association (APF).
Olimpia announced that the First Team players would resume activities starting this Monday. The Ministry had mentioned that in Phase 2 of the "Intelligent Quarantine," which begins this Monday, professional sports can be resumed without spectators.
Trovato shared his position in three sharp tweets directly targeting the APF. He said, "As President of Olimpia, I am obligated to defend it and always contribute to Paraguayan football. We do not agree with the mediocrity and servility of some. That's why I'm upset and not sympathetic to those who want to continue holding football hostage."
"If they don't want football to return, let the APF explain to the First Team players and other categories why 90% of Paraguayans will be able to work from Monday and they won't," he continued in his Twitter thread.
Finally, he delivered a strong message. "At Olimpia, we will strictly comply with the Ministry of Health's decision. If we have to wait, we will, and we will work to come back stronger because in that, the mediocre and servile ones won't beat us. Olimpia will return stronger and ready to fight everything it plays," he concluded.
Olimpia wants an immediate return of Paraguayan football with the resumption of the Apertura tournament. But apparently, the APF intends to take all necessary precautions and resume football when they have prepared 100% of the health protocol.
