Football Return: The President of Club Olimpia Suggests a Middle Ground

"The controls are fine, I think the protocols need to be worked on, I don't agree and I would like to debate the 90-day isolation," said the president this Tuesday in an interview with Fútbol a lo Grande on Monumental radio.

The top executive of the Para Uno club highlighted the willingness of all stakeholders in this sport to make an effort to get the ball rolling again, but ruled out this intention and encouraged the idea of an intermediate solution.

"When the request surpasses human reality, I think we have to talk about it, discuss it, and find an intermediate solution, like fewer days and periodic exams to move forward with this," he said.

He even showed support for the strategy followed by the Government and playing the matches in phases because "no one has the exact or perfect solution." "We don't know what can happen. There is a lot of uncertainty and what we have to do is take it step by step. Imagine now we are with over forty days of quarantine and many are already climbing the walls," he stressed.

VIABLE PROTOCOL.

Trovato stated that if the Government already gives the green light for professional practice from May 25th, all efforts should focus on a protocol that can "be acceptable and viable for all parties involved."

"I believe that if the Government enables it, it would depend on the football world to find a correct protocol that is accepted by players, coaching staff, officials, the press, and the general public in order to start, that should be the way," he added.

Finally, the club president pointed out that they are aligned and will collaborate with whatever the Government and the Paraguayan Football Association request. He also mentioned that "examples will be very useful," such as "what is happening in the most important leagues in Europe, what is being considered in South America, and seeing what CONMEBOL thinks about international cups in order to propose something."
