Independiente Medellín, led by Aldo Bobadilla, qualified for Group H of the Copa Libertadores after defeating Atlético Tucumán on penalties away from home, and will face Libertad.

After winning 1-0 in the first leg at Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellin, the Colombian team lost by the same score in Tucuman with Leonardo Heredia's goal, but then won in the penalty shootout and joined Group H, where they will face Boca Juniors, Paraguayan Liberty, and Caracas.

After defeating Deportivo Venezuela in the second phase and now Atlético Tucumán, DIM secured a spot in the group stage in their ninth participation (1967, 1994, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2017, 2019, and 2020).

The home team, led by Ricardo Zielinski, put an end to their third participation in the Copa Libertadores, the first in which they failed to reach the group stage, a goal they had achieved in the previous two (2017 and 2018).

Tucumán's 'Decano' started the match at full speed with the intention of overturning the disadvantage in the scoreline they had in the first leg and after three dangerous approaches to the goal defended by Andrés Mosquera, they leveled the series.

In the 20th minute, Leonardo Heredia struck an assist from Javier Toledo in the area and with a powerful shot, he overcame Mosquera's resistance with a ball that went into the upper left corner.

From that moment on, the visiting team, led by Paraguayan Aldo Bobadilla, tightened the marks and was more precise in containing the advances of the home team with a very active Javier Toledo.

In the second half, DIM had their chances with a shot from Larry Angulo that went near the upper left corner of Luchetti's goal.

Then, Fabián Monzón prevented a almost certain goal from the visitors and finally the Argentine team's goalkeeper stopped a shot in the small area from Juan Fernando Caicedo.

Javier Toledo had the opportunity to score the second for the home team, but his back-heel shot was in an offside position and Guillermo Ortiz's header went over the crossbar in the two clearest chances for the Tucuman's team.

In the penalty shootout, Atlético Tucumán didn't have certainty in their first two shots with a missed shot from Leandro Díaz and a save from Andrés Mosquera against Augusto Lotti.

DIM didn't fail and with the final shot from Adrián Arregui, a former San Martín de Tucumán player, they defined the series and secured their passport to Group H.
