Derlis Mereles signs contract with Benfica

Derlis Mereles, 19 years old, signed a contract on Thursday with Benfica from Portugal. The Paraguayan athlete joins the club on loan from Rubio Ñu, the entity that owns his sporting rights.

The forward defended the shirt of San Lorenzo in 2019, in the First Division. During his time at the university city, he played 41 matches and scored four goals.

A fan of Cerro Porteño, Mereles took advantage of the Sub 19 regulation, which until last year obliged coaches to start the game with a player from that category.
