Unusual incident in Guaraní
Something incredible happened in Guaraní. Just hours before their debut in the 2020 Copa Libertadores, the club received some terrible news: they will not be able to count on one of their key players, Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Fernández Cedrés.
But what's astonishing about this case is that the absence of the midfielder is not due to injury or suspension, but rather due to an error in the registration of the squad list that was sent to the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol).
In the document, Guaraní mistakenly listed defender Roberto Fernández, who is currently on duty with the Paraguayan Under-23 National Team in the Pre-Olympic tournament in Colombia, instead of including Fernández Cedrés.
"I am very hurt, they told me it was a mistake", said the player himself in an interview with El Extra de Fútbol a lo Grande on Radio Monumental 1080 AM. The player will only be able to be registered if Guaraní advances to the group stage.
The Aborigen will make their debut in the first phase of the Copa this Wednesday at 19:15 as visitors against San José Oruro from Bolivia. The second leg will be held on January 29th in Paraguay.
