Head Coach Francisco Arce shares details of his second cycle with Cerro Porteño

Last night, Cerro Porteño's head coach Francisco Arce shared exclusively with the Fútbol a lo Grande team, giving details about the start of his second cycle leading the blue and red team.

The strategist analyzed his return to barrio Obrero, stating: "We are prioritizing positions where we have difficulty. The leaders are working on that. There is a feeling that there is more missing than what we have, but we have already made an evaluation from the outside. We need to improve performances and the players are aware. Yesterday, we entered the field for the first time directly and it was excellent. We are on a very good path, there are shortcomings but not many."

Arce showed confidence when facing the project: "We have no excuses, we have a great squad, and it is practically the same group. What happened, happened, and we will be by their side for whatever they need. Yesterday, we saw good dynamics on the field because the group knows each other and they are of great quality."

In the midfield, Chiqui has several options: "Topo is doing very well, very strong, leading the physical training. He has influence due to his experience and his game, and we are very pleased that he is healthy and doing well," he referred.

"We have Marcelo (Palau), Matías Villasanti, Ángel Lucena, and Julio Dos Santos who is doing very well, training well, he is strong and ready to compete with anyone," he added.

"The midfield is the area where we will have the least problems. All the internal midfielders have already worked with us, we know them very well in terms of their characteristics," he emphasized.

For Arce, the idea is clear: "We want to play with two holding midfielders and two free midfielders. We like thoughtful play and that fits very well with Cerro's style. We have players who can implement our game."

Regarding the forwards, the coach added: "Only Luis is not yet at 100%, he is out due to pubalgia discomfort and we hope he will be able to present himself next week. He is the only one in the squad with those characteristics, and if he is available, it will give us other playing options. Sergio Díaz is a second striker, and we will try to make him play that way. It's interesting and he is the only one different from the others we have."
