Miguel Almirón scores his first goal in the Premier League

Newcastle United's Paraguayan international, Miguel Almirón, scored his first goal in the Premier League on Saturday in a match against Crystal Palace corresponding to matchday 18 of the competition.

The coach, Steve Bruce, was happy for the achievement of the player from the Paraguayan National Football Team, which was accomplished after playing 28 matches.

The former Cerro Porteño player scored his goal in the 83rd minute of the match, after an assist from forward Andy Carroll, to give Newcastle the three points.

In this way, Almirón ends the drought he has had since February 11th, when he made his official debut wearing the 'Magpies' shirt and received criticism from English fans and press.

At the beginning of the year, Almirón became the most expensive signing in 'Magpies' history. According to figures reported by the English press, the amount paid to Atlanta United from the United States league would reach £21 million (€23 million), surpassing the £16.5 million (€18 million) paid in 2005 for Michael Owen.

The 26-year-old forward, who also had a successful spell at Lanús in Argentina, signed with the 'Magpies' until 2024 after playing 62 matches in the American MLS and scoring 21 goals.
