Coach Daniel Garnero achieves another title with Olimpia

Olimpia's coach, Daniel Garnero, has another medal to hang around his neck after winning the Clausura 2019 tournament. The Franjeado's coach has a glorious streak, with four consecutive titles.

Arrival in Paraguay

The Argentine arrived in the country in 2015 to coach Sol de América, where his good results allowed the team to return to an international cup after 24 years, participating in the 2016 Copa Sudamericana.

Move to Olimpia

In August 2016, he moved to Olimpia to replace Francisco Arce, who decided to return to the Paraguayan national team. Four months later, Garnero won the Clausura tournament. In 2017, he achieved a runner-up position in the Apertura and at the end of the season, he headed to Olimpia.

Success with Olimpia

Garnero took charge of Olimpia on December 28 and started his reign with a victory in the Apertura 2018. He then continued to achieve victories until the recent conquest of the tetracampeonato, a milestone that hadn't been accomplished in Paraguayan football for 19 years.

Close to the record

Daniel Garnero is one title away from Aurelio González's record, who, as Olimpia's coach, achieved five consecutive championships. Known as "the Great Captain," González established the first tetra and later the penta Franjeado between 1956 and 1960.
