Deportivo Capiatá installed its name in the semifinals of the Paraguayan Football Association (APF) integration tournament, the Paraguay Cup, on Wednesday by defeating Cristóbal Colón de Ñemby 3-1 at Luis Salinas stadium in the city of Itauguá.
Early surprise
The Ñemby team surprised early with a great goal in the 12th minute. Juan Aníbal Roa received a ball outside the penalty area and hit a tremendous left-footed shot that went into the upper left corner of the rival's goal, for a 1-0 lead in favor of Colón.
Auriazul reacts
The Auriazul reacted and equalized in the 34th minute through the experienced midfielder Luis Cáceres, who took advantage of a couple of rebounds in the six-yard box to score and level the game 1-1, the score with which the first half ended.
Second half
In the second half, the game was even until the 62nd minute, when Colón player Carlos Duarte was shown a straight red card, leaving his team with 10 players.
Capiatá takes advantage
With one player more on the field, Deportivo Capiatá pressed forward and in the end got its reward: in the 91st minute, Ángel Martínez attempted a low shot that beat the resistance of the rival goalkeeper and became the 2-1 goal.
Three minutes later, after a perfect counterattack, Juan Acosta appeared to finish the game and seal Deportivo Capiatá's 3-1 victory.
Semifinalists
Capiatá joins Libertad and Sol de América as semifinalists. The last qualifier will come from the clash between Guaraní and Deportivo Santaní.
