Héctor González Iñárritu was warned

At least that's what the Mexican Referees Association (AMA) announced in a statement released on their social media platforms to justify the strike of the referees in Matchday 10 of the Clausura 2017. They emphasized that the president of their Commission was aware of the radical measure they finally took.

Furthermore, as known since Friday, the main reason that triggered this rebellion were the sanctions imposed on players Enrique Triverio from Toluca and Pablo Aguilar, who were suspended for eight and ten games respectively, after assaulting the referees during the Copa MX round of 16 matches. Sanctions that they deemed insufficient.

Throughout Saturday, there was silence, during which the main orchestrators of the movement were caught by the media at different times, but repeatedly avoided making any statements.

Finally, at night, they released the document in which they emphasized two important points of their discontent, which deprived the Liga MX of football this weekend.

1. INSUFFICIENT SANCTIONS

The AMA began their statement explaining the reason for the league strike. Nothing relevant, just what had already been anticipated. That was their first point.

"The AMA Professional Referees informs that the only reason why the matches of Matchday 10 of the Clausura 2017 Liga MX were not refereed is because the sanction imposed by the Disciplinary Committee on players Pablo Aguilar from Club América and Enrique Triverio from Club Toluca was not applied in accordance with the sanction regulations or the refereeing report. For this reason, we consider that the decision goes against the refereeing authority and the spirit that should prevail in Mexican football."

However, they did not specify whether there were any alterations to the refereeing report drafted by referees Miguel Ángel Flores Rodríguez and Fernando Hernández Gómez, as had been circulated in recent days.

2. IÑÁRRITU KNEW

In their second point, the group of referees revealed that they informed the president of the Referees Commission that they would strike the league after learning about the players' sanctions:

"Furthermore, we want to make it clear that the aforementioned situation was communicated in advance to the president of the Referees Commission, Mr. Héctor González Iñárritu, so that he could act accordingly."
