Debut of Hugo González as Monterrey's Starting Goalkeeper Ends in a Draw
Hugo González finally made his debut as Monterrey's starting goalkeeper; however, he could do little to maintain the two-goal advantage that Rayados had during the game.
"We leave with a bitter taste in our mouths, but we must highlight the effort made by the team, with one less player and playing away, it is difficult to achieve a good result against a team like Cruz Azul, but we did it and now we have to return home and think about what's next," said the goalkeeper.
González added that the team still has things to improve on for the upcoming matches.
"We need to quickly address the little details in order to earn important points that we have let slip away," he stated.
Regarding his debut, he mentioned: "I am quite happy, the fans have received me very well and now being able to give something back to them on the field is important to me."
Finally, regarding the referee errors that occurred, Hugo defended the referees.
"Anyone can make a mistake, even the referees. Sometimes it works in our favor and we accept it, and if it goes against us, we take it negatively. It depends on the moment and knowing that they can make mistakes because the plays are sometimes quite complicated," he said.
