The University of Guadalajara walks well at the Jalisco Stadium
This Sunday, against the Bravos de Juárez, the Leones Negros achieved their second victory of the tournament thanks to a strike from Jorge Mora that escaped the experienced goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo.
Still hurt by the defeat they suffered during the week against Coras de Tepic, Leones started the game against Juárez with the intention of setting the rhythm of the match. After minutes of fight in midfield, the Lions achieved their goal led by the individual quality of Jorge Mora.
After being a constant threat on the edge of the area, the 'Gordo' struck the ball near the penalty spot and his shot found the back of the net in the 11th minute with the complicity of Cirilo Saucedo. The goalkeeper had managed to block the ball at the base of the left post, but the ball ended up slipping between his legs.
The first half was completed and that was when Joel Sánchez's team came close to amplifying their advantage on the scoreboard. Defender Arturo Ortiz received a back-pass in the area and without much thought, he struck the ball against the crossbar. The post was already a factor in the match.
Before going into halftime, Eder Borelli had the clearest chance for Juárez, heading the ball in a corner kick, but this time the frame saved UdeG and the University's team went into halftime with the advantage.
In the second half, it was Ismael Valadez who had the opportunity to seal the match, but in a couple of minutes, he missed twice in front of the goal. His first chance came in the 67th minute when he received the ball inside the area and shot aimlessly. Just one minute later, the Lion striker found himself with the ball again in front of Saucedo and this time it was the goalkeeper who saved the Bravos.
After failing to find the back of the net, Ismael Valadez ended up leaving the match to boos. José Damián took his place.
The game became old and the Bravos couldn't find a way to harm the home team. With very little football and very little idea, Miguel Fuetes' team ended up falling on the Estadio Jalisco's pitch in front of just over six thousand fans.
