About Gaddi Aguirre
With less than a year of experience in the Mexican soccer league and at only 20 years old, Gaddi Aguirre has already faced important challenges in his career such as the night when he was tasked with stopping Tigres' forward line in Clausura 2016.
A Memorable Encounter
From that Jornada 12 match that ended in a 2-2 draw, Aguirre treasures a couple of things: the first being that he came out unscathed against one of the strongest teams in Liga MX, and the second, but even more emotional, was exchanging jerseys with French striker André-Pierre Gignac.
Admiring Gignac
Convinced that the French forward stands out among the league's strikers, the Atlas defender did not hesitate to point out that it would be an honor for him to face the number 10 of the auriazules once again.
"For me, it's an honor to play against Gignac, he's an excellent player. I will try to learn from him and from all my teammates. I have to give my best no matter who I face. In fact, the first time I faced him, I exchanged jerseys with him and I have that jersey saved at home. It was a very close game, and that memory will stay with me forever," he shared.
No Underestimating Tigres
Speaking more generally and putting aside courtesy, Aguirre stated that despite the difference in payroll between both teams, Atlas is not below Tigres, and he warned that the Zorros can cause a lot of damage to Ricardo Ferretti's team.
"You learn something different from each game. We have to do our best no matter who the opponent is. Tigres is an excellent team, but we are also strong, and I am certain that we can cause them a lot of damage. They are coming back from a break after the final, and we can take advantage of that."
"Tigres' forward line is very fast and very, very strong. We have to give our best, we have to be well positioned because they can attack from any side at any moment. We have to stay focused," he concluded.
Possible Central Defense Option
Due to Stiven Barreiro still not having recovered from the fractured fibula he suffered last season and with Luis Robles serving a suspension for being sent off in the Toluca game, Gaddi Aguirre is set to be one of the top choices in José Guadalupe Cruz's central defense this weekend.
