The pressure exerted by its own referees has had an effect and Edgardo Codesal has resigned from the Referee Commission of the Mexican Football Federation, where he served as technical director.
Codesal resigns amidst the crisis of Mexican refereeing, one of the most severe in decades, in which he is blamed as one of the main culprits for the lack of training of the referees he led.
In addition to this, Codesal 'broke up' with active leaders of the refereeing union, such as Roberto García, Francisco Chacón, Paul Delgadillo and José Luis Camargo, which resulted in a rebellion by his subordinates that reached its climax last Monday, with a tense meeting between both parties held in Mexico City that led Edgardo to resign.
Codesal had assumed the role of technical director of the Referee Commission in January 2015, as part of a project that also meant the arrival of Héctor González Iñárritu as the president of the organization with the aim of getting the men in black out of trouble.
The FMF announced that this afternoon, at 17:30, González Iñárritu will hold a press conference at the High Performance Center, to provide further details about Edgardo Codesal's departure.
