The Liga MX title will be decided on Sunday night when Club América hosts Tigres in the second leg of the final.
Thursday night’s first leg in Monterrey ended in a 1-1 draw, with a Henry Martín penalty giving América the lead before a 71st-minute equalizer from Ozziel Herrera ensured the game would end level.
Unlike the quarterfinal and semifinal stages of the playoffs, América will not win on a tiebreaker as the higher seed should the second leg end in a draw. Instead, the game would move on to extra time and penalties if necessary.
