Mexican swimmers supported by Acuáticas Nelson Vargas continue to contribute medals to the National Delegation competing in the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, and on this second day, it was Jorge Iga who stepped onto the podium after winning the silver medal in the 200 meters freestyle event.

Iga finished in second place with a time of 1:47.56 minutes, while the first place went to the American Coby Carroza with 1:47.37. The third place went to the Brazilian Murilo Setin with 1:47.95.

"I felt very good, it was an amazing experience, and thank you very much to all Acuática Nelson Vargas who are always there, always supporting us, cheering us on, and believing in us. It is a silver medal for Mexico," said Iga.

Jorge was part of the 4x100 meters freestyle relay, where he helped the team break the Absolute National Record again. In the continental event, Jorge competed alongside Andrés Dupont, Athena Meneses, and Sofia Revilak, and together they achieved a time of 3:28.87 minutes.

Thus, the national team broke the record set on July 29 of this year at the World Championships held in Fukuoka, Japan, where Jorge Iga, Andrés Dupont, Athena Meneses, and Tayde Revilak stopped the clock at: 3.30.77.

For this Monday, the participation of the swimmers supported by coach Nelson Vargas will continue, including Jorge Iga (100 meters freestyle), Miguel de Lara (100 meters freestyle), Andrés Puente (200 meters breaststroke), and José Alberto Cano (800 meters freestyle), who hope to secure a spot in the finals of these Pan American Games.

So far, the swimmers supported by Acuáticas Nelson Vargas have won two silvers and one bronze. On the first day, María José Mata won the silver in the 200-meter butterfly, and Miguel de Lara won the bronze in the 100-meter breaststroke, and now, Jorge Iga won the silver in the 200-meter freestyle.
