Would 'Checo' Pérez be suspended from Formula 1 after the Japan Grand Prix?

Sergio "Checo" Pérez, the talented Mexican Formula 1 driver, faces challenging times in his career. Despite recovering from a series of poor results, the Singapore Grand Prix marked a negative turning point for him, as Red Bull did not reach their best level and Pérez finished in eighth place. However, his situation worsened even further in Suzuka, Japan, where he had to retire from the race and his performance left much to be desired, despite his teammate Max Verstappen's victory.

The Superlicense is a fundamental document to compete in Formula 1, and its renewal has a cost of over 11,000 dollars, although only 2,000 to renew it. In this context, Checo Pérez could face the suspension of his Superlicense due to the incidents he has been involved in recent races, specifically in Singapore and Japan, where he was involved in collisions with other drivers' cars.

For a driver to be suspended for a race, they must accumulate 12 points of infractions, which are given when they are involved in incidents during the races, like the crashes in which Checo was involved in Singapore and Japan. Currently, Checo Pérez has 7 points of infractions, which means he still has 5 points left before reaching the limit and facing a possible suspension.

The 2023 Formula 1 season still has six races to go, which forces Pérez to be extremely careful in the upcoming Grand Prix. These races will be crucial for him, as he aspires to achieve the runner-up position in the Drivers' Championship, an achievement that eluded him last year against Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. Therefore, Checo Pérez must avoid accumulating more penalties on his Superlicense and demonstrate a solid performance in the upcoming races if he wants to achieve his goals this season.
