America could not against Toluca live for Matchday 8 of the Liga MX Apertura Tournament.

On Sunday, September 24, América drew 1-1 against Toluca in the 9th round of the Liga MX Apertura Tournament. Diego Valdés scored first for the 'Águilas', while Maximiliano Araújo equalized. With this result, América gave up the top spot in the competition to Atlético San Luis.

Chileans Diego Valdés and Igor Lichnovsky scored the goals that secured América's 1-2 victory over Querétaro and their jump to the top of the Mexican Apertura tournament.

With the result, the 'Águilas' reached 17 points, one more than San Luis. Then comes Juarez with 15 points, Tigres with 14, and Monterrey with 13. In a match from the second round, Colombian Raúl Zuñiga gave the advantage to the Gallos in their stadium, but in the second half the visitors took control and won with the goals from the Chileans.

The decisive moment of the first half came in the 11th minute. Colombian Julián Quiñones hit the post and seconds later Zuñiga won the race against Lichnovsky and with a right-footed shot put the score at 1-0.

Querétaro grew in confidence after the goal, threatened the opposing area, and in the 22nd minute came close to expanding their lead, but Argentine Federico Lértora shot wide with all the advantage.

Directed by Brazilian André Jardine, América ended the first half better, although they missed two opportunities to equalize the score, with a left-footed shot from Alejandro Zendejas stopped by goalkeeper Guillermo Allison in the 39th minute, and a shot from Quiñones saved by the goalkeeper.

América came out with an attacking mindset in the second half and in the 52nd minute, they equalized with a right-footed shot from Valdés.

The visiting team went for more and in the 78th minute, they secured the victory with a header from Lichnovsky from a corner, in a controversial play because Querétaro claimed that the Chilean had fouled Uruguayan Emanuel Gularte.
