The goalkeeper of La Maquina pointed out that the second goal of America was a mistake in a bad clearance resulting in Richard Sanchez's goal
Sebastián Jurado, goalkeeper of Cruz Azul, faced the music after the 2-3 defeat against America at the Estadio Azteca. The goalkeeper admitted his mistake, which was a "screw up" on his part, especially in the second goal scored by the Eagles, which originated from a poor clearance by the goalkeeper.
"There will always be criticism. I know it's my responsibility, especially in the second goal where I didn't make a good clearance. After that, the team performed well, we had a great match despite playing with 10 men, and we had a long stretch of the game to bounce back. I think the guys did a spectacular job in that sense, and it's part of being a goalkeeper as well. You have to carry it, take responsibility for what you need to be responsible for, and I accept that responsibility. I know it was a screw-up on my part," said the goalkeeper of Cruz Azul.
"It's a tough situation because it's our stadium, it's our people. I know I have to improve, I can't allow myself to make these mistakes. I take responsibility for the screw-up in the second goal, I should have cleared it better with my left foot, but my teammates handled the game well. This can't be reversed by talking, it's reversed by working and showing what I'm made of on the field. We need a lot of mental strength to get out of this rough patch and prove ourselves," added the goalkeeper.
Sebastián Jurado had a difficult night as he was booed once again by the Cruz Azul fans. Every time the goalkeeper touched the ball in the second half, after conceding the three goals, the boos immediately came from the blue supporters in the stands of the Estadio Azteca.
"A lot of people can talk, but I have to consider the source. Surely those who have an opinion about me will have my number and will talk to me, telling me what I could have done better. Those who don't have my phone number, their opinion is not that important," the goalkeeper concluded as he left the Estadio Azteca.
