Chivas presented Mexican Erick Gutierrez , coming from Europe, as their shining reinforcement for the Apertura 2023 tournament of the Liga MX , on Sunday, July 2. The announcement was made through the club's official social media channels. This way, the player leaves PSV Eindhoven from the Eredivisie to join 'Rebaño'.
‘Guti’ arrived in Dutch football in 2018, and since then, he has been part of the team, playing 141 matches in which he scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists. Although he had a valid contract with PSV until 2025, for the past two years, there had been rumors about his possible departure to other teams.
However, with the closing of the transfer market, Erick decided to join the Guadalajara team. Within the team led by sports director Fernando Hierro, Gutierrez will play a prominent role in the midfield. The team emphasized that the player's skills will be vital to face the challenges of the Apertura and the Leagues Cup.
“('Guti') Has a great long pass to enable distant players who break free, giving another tool to the attack for the Apertura 2023 and Leagues Cup. He has a good pass between the lines and is also capable of creating short combinations," said the 'Rojiblancos' official website.
Gutierrez has been the most renowned signing made by Hierro's management, who has also managed to secure the signatures of Mexican-Spanish goalkeeper Oscar Whalley and forward Ricardo Marin. 'Chivas Rayadas' will make their debut on Monday, July 3, in the Apertura by visiting Leon in the first round.
