Hurricanes and Striped negotiate a scoreless draw

The Hurricanes and the Striped negotiated a scoreless draw in the first leg of the Clausura 2023 semifinals of the Liga MX Femenil. The standout figures of the match were undoubtedly the goalkeepers, who managed to keep the score 0-0.

Both teams had a slow start in the early stages of the match for a spot in the Clausura 2023 final. Although they had some dangerous plays, they failed to score a goal, leaving the score untouched.

The Hurricanes gradually took control offensively and attacked the goal of Alejandría Godínez, the goalkeeper of the Striped. However, Godínez rose to the challenge presented by her former team and managed to keep her net intact on every occasion.

Although the home team had more opportunities on the offensive end, the goalkeeper from Monterrey managed to save every ball that came her way. On other occasions, the forwards sent the ball into the stands out of frustration.

Charlyn Corral had the most notable mistake of the first half when she failed to take advantage of a filtered pass that left her one-on-one with Alejandría Godínez. She drowned in the small area and denied the pass to the Spanish player Jennifer Hermoso, thus leaving the score 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, it was the Striped who sought the goal with more determination to take the lead. However, goalkeeper Esthefanny Barreras showed her quality and kept each attack from the Monterrey forwards at bay, denying them the goal that would break the scoreless draw.

Despite the constant attacks from the visitors, the Hurricanes managed to counter-attack on a couple of occasions. But Alejandría Godínez stood firm and saved each shot on her goal. Even Pachuca's top scorer, Charlyn Corral, lost two one-on-one duels against the Striped goalkeeper.

As time ran out in regulation, the intensity increased on the field of the Hurricanes, which was reflected in the number of yellow cards shown by the referee, with the Striped being the most affected. However, neither team managed to score the coveted goal to take the lead in the match for a spot in the final.

In injury time, the visitors had a new opportunity to take the lead and searched for the goal by any means necessary. However, they were unable to score the goal that would break the deadlock. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes did not change their style and constantly looked for Charlyn Corral, who failed to convert any shots and give her team the victory.

With this draw, the spot in the Clausura 2023 final will be decided at the Gigante de Acero, the home of the Striped, where they will try to replicate the result that gave them access to the semifinals, which they came back from. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have an important challenge ahead as the visiting team if they intend to fight for the title of the Liga MX Femenil.
