The President Andrés Manuel López Obrador touched again on the economic support to artistic swimmers in "La Mañanera" and now indicated that the athletes did not approach the federal government to request it and thus give them the budget so that they could go to compete in the World Cup in Egypt.
"If they did not receive the support, it was wrong, if they had approached us indicating that they needed this support, and how could we not do it if we have already done it on other occasions and we will continue to do so, it is our responsibility," stated López Obrador.
The president reiterated that the Santos only supported the swimmers but rectified that only six of them and not the whole team. On Monday, the President of Mexico indicated that the athletes did receive support from the Sedena for the trip, however, the athletes pointed out that AMLO was confused as they only receive a salary and benefits from the institution.
"They helped those who participated, not all of them, it seems that only six of them, who are part of the Sedena," he said.

The president of Mexico mentioned that greater importance is being given to the issue of resources than to the result obtained by the athletes in Egypt.
"We were very happy that the artistic swimmers triumphed, but immediately the media were already criticizing their trip and campaigning against the government. I'm not naïve and we put everything related to this issue," he said.
Asks Ana Guevara not to fall into provocations
The President recognized that the head of the National Sports Commission responded wrongly to press inquiries about the lack of support for the swimmers. He said that we should not fall into any provocation because the opposition wants the government to react badly.
He even considered it possible that Arturo Elías Ayub, who sponsored the swimmers in the absence of government support, had promoted the alleged campaign against the 4T.
"I have no doubt that even he who helped them, who by the way, does not have a good relationship with us, the son-in-law, yes Elías Ayub, promoted that. Of course, we must not fall into any provocation, even if we have a hot heart, a cool head, because what our adversaries and their corrupt press, their sold or rented journalists want is for us to respond badly, which is the case with the Director of Sports, Anita Guevara," he added.
