The Chinese social network catapulted his art, making him invited to big stages like the Foro Sol, however, he has also been involved in controversies due to the theme of his songs where he often apologizes for drugs and drug trafficking.
Who is Peso Pluma and why is he called that?
As we mentioned, the real name of this young singer is Hassan Kabande Laija and he is originally from Guadalajara, Mexico. The music he dedicates himself to is urban genre and his interest in singing arose since he was in secondary school.
He has collaborated with artists like Natanael Cano and Junior H, two famous representatives of 'corridos tumbados' or also called 'belicones' in his country. He has more than 18 million listeners on Spotify and many of his songs have surpassed 100 million plays.
In an interview with Pepe Garza, producer of the La Radio Awards, he confessed that his nickname came from a series of anecdotes that made him assume that he was destined to be artistically called that way.
"Because of the THC feathers... Because that trend was very popular and we all had a slim build. So, once we went to play, when we were starting out, in the private parties in Guadalajara, and during an interval we met Marco Antonio Barrera and it turned out he was a champion in that weight class, and we said, 'it's destiny, that's what we have to call ourselves'," the young singer said.
