During the debate for the State of Mexico elections, candidate Alejandra del Moral indicated that if she wins the governorship, one of her goals will be to host the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2030 in that state.
"The State of Mexico has the infrastructure, capacity, and sports talent, we are going to work together, and we are going to showcase our state and our athletes. As the elected governor in June of this year, I will propose the Valle de Toluca as the venue for the Central American and Caribbean Games 2030,"
In a campaign event held a few days ago, the candidate for the coalition "Va por el Estado de México" highlighted that she would seek to streamline sports so that all support and attention to athletes are concentrated in a single institution called the Mexican Institute of Physical Culture and Sport.
"Upon taking office as state governor, I will take advantage of the sports infrastructure, which needs to be further developed to make the State of Mexico a national sports reference. In addition, the State of Mexico will be inclusive, and all facilities will be provided for athletes with disabilities," said del Moral, who also considered these measures important to combat obesity and sedentary lifestyle.
The last time Mexico hosted the Central American and Caribbean Games was in 2014, and the host was the state of Veracruz. León applied to host the 2026 edition but later withdrew its candidacy.
