Every day, thousands of people leave their countries to immigrate to the United States in search of the 'American dream' and to start a better future for themselves and their families. Keep reading for more information.

Requirements for Humanitarian Parole in USA

The US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) states that in order to start the process, the interested party must have a valid passport, as well as a sponsor in the United States who is willing to request the person's participation in the humanitarian parole.

Additionally, the sponsor must demonstrate that they have the financial resources to support the person's stay for two years. USCIS announced the opening for migrants who entered the country and obtained a temporary stay permit ("parolees") to apply online for their work permit with Form I-765.

What is Humanitarian Parole?

It is a temporary stay permit granted for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit. With this permit, you can enter the United States without any problems. It was created to solve the great crisis that existed at the border due to the high demand for illegal crossings. Therefore, 30,000 monthly permits are available to be granted to citizens of Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Haiti.

How to apply for Humanitarian Parole in USA?

People who wish to apply for humanitarian parole must meet a series of requirements, which are detailed below:

  • Be nationals of Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela, or Haiti.
  • Be outside the United States.
  • Have a valid passport for international travel.
  • Have a sponsor with legal status in the United States who can demonstrate the ability to provide financial support and any other necessary support to the person applying for parole.
  • Cover their airfare to the United States.
  • Comply with vaccination requirements and other public health requirements established by the US government.

Ineligible individuals include:

  • Individuals who have irregularly crossed the borders of the United States, Mexico, or Panama after January 5, 2023.

How long does Humanitarian Parole last?

Normally, the temporary stay permit is granted for a period not exceeding one year. USCIS will specify the necessary period for the permit to fulfill its purpose as indicated in Part 3 of Form I-131.

Parole can end at two moments. The termination will depend on the event that occurs first between the following two:

  • The date the permit expires.
