Diego Cocca from Argentina was presented on Friday as the new coach of the Mexican national team for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

"We decided that it would be Mr. Diego Cocca, we are convinced that it was a good decision and that we will succeed with Diego at the helm, he is a hardworking man, he is a great strategist," said Rodrigo Ares de Parga, executive director of national teams of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) in a press conference.
Ares de Parga explained at the Mexican Football Federation's High Performance Center in the south of Mexico City that five candidates were interviewed in the process of selecting the new coach of the 'Tri'.
Cocca fulfilled four requirements: knowledge of Mexican soccer, knowledge of the characteristics of Mexican players, proper group management, and experience and achievements.
Born on February 11, 1972, in Buenos Aires, Diego Cocca is the 45th head coach in history.
