The European winter market closed and only César Montes was the only export of Mexican soccer to go to the 'Old Continent' after the Qatar 2022 World Cup; while Uriel Antuna was left wanting to emigrate to Panathinaikos in Greece, as the negotiation could not be concluded. A situation that clearly frustrated the Mexican National Team player.
Weeks after that event, the wound remains open in Antuna and he clarified that he continues working to attract several European teams, as he has the desire to be able to go in the summer market and fulfill his second stage in European soccer. Remember that he wore the shirt Groningen in the Eredivisie (Netherlands).
"I don't know if it's impotence but it was a bit of frustration because I had been fighting to be in European soccer and I continue working for it. It didn't happen, but I keep working to be at the highest level, to perform in my club because I know that by performing here someone else will see me," he commented in an interview for TUDN.
"My family and everyone around us are happy with Cruz Azul and I wouldn't like to leave, here in Mexico for another club; I am very happy here, they have treated me very well and that must be left in the hands of the executives," he added.
For now, Uriel Antuna will remain as one of the most important players in the Cruz Azul lineup, under the command of Raúl 'Potro' Gutiérrez, and will try to gain the trust of the next coach of the Mexican National Team, who would be presented next week, just as Argentine Gerardo Martino did, who took him to the last World Cup.
When does Cruz Azul play in the Liga MX?
At the Azteca Stadium, Cruz Azul vs. Tigres will face each other on matchday 5 of the Clausura 2023 tournament of Liga MX. The match will take place this Saturday, February 4 at 19:05 Mexico Central Time at the Azteca Stadium and will be broadcast on Canal 5 Las Estrellas in open signal.
La Máquina Cementera receives the felines with the urgency of obtaining 3 points that will allow them to leave the penultimate position of the standings, where they have only one point from their draw in the first match against Tijuana. On the other hand, the team led by Diego Cocca lost the lead in the previous matchday, after their goalless draw against Atlético San Luis, but is only one point behind the leaders Pachuca and Monterrey, who have 9 points in the championship.
