This Friday morning, the arrest of Pumas midfielder Dani Alves accused of sexual assault in a nightclub in Barcelona was reported.
"Regarding the case of the player from Club Universidad Nacional, Dani Alves, detained in the city of Barcelona this Friday, the Liga MX informs that, together with Club Universidad Nacional, it will be pending the case and the player's legal situation to determine the appropriate action regarding his participation in the League," Liga MX stated in a statement shared on its social networks.
On the other hand, the Pumas team has not commented on the matter.
Dani Alves arrived in Mexican football in the Apertura 2022 Tournament when he signed with Pumas, generating great expectation for the UNAM club, however they did not qualify for the playoff round to fight for the title.
After his participation in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, there were rumors about his possible departure from Pumas and the player himself took a while to respond to it, although he finally stated that he will continue to be part of the club.
In this Clausura 2023, Dani Alves has only participated in one match, where Pumas defeated FC Juárez 2-1 at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.
