After suffering the first setback of this Clausura 2023, Cruz Azul coach Raúl Gutiérrez acknowledged his dissatisfaction with the defeat, especially with the way the goals were conceded.
"It is obvious that we are not satisfied, especially with the way the goals were conceded, they do not match what we have been working on. Obviously, under those circumstances, the opponent takes advantage and we pay the price. I think we need to make changes and not be a reactive team. We were doing well, had a good first half, but we need to adjust those things with the players who understand that training is not the same as playing a match like this. The team did something interesting, especially in the last 20 minutes, but just drawing is not enough, we need to improve in other aspects."
El Potro admitted that they are still looking for a striker.
"We are still dealing with that situation, we have been looking since November, but for one reason or another, it has not happened yet. But we are hopeful to complete the team, it is a complex issue due to the number of spots available, hopefully it will be resolved in a way that a number 9 comes to help us."
After the deal with Panathinaikos in Greece fell through, Raúl Gutiérrez stated that Uriel Antuna has been working as a professional.
"Uriel is a great professional, we had already discussed the issue, thinking about the scenarios for him and what needed to be done. I think today Uriel had a good game, but he needs to perform even better. The only way for him to leave is by having good performances, that is Uriel's message and it makes us happy."
To conclude, Raúl pointed out that patience and work are the way to improve and achieve their first victory.
"Patience and continuing to work, I don't know any other way to improve. That's the frequency we are in. Today we face a team from the playoffs, under those circumstances, we will improve because we have to and because the face we showed in the last 25 minutes is the one we need to have."
