"Santiago is our player, the issue is not being included in the plans because there is an order that we follow, with the incorporation of Daniel Ríos, we have to make decisions based on what we want for the team. There's nothing else, we've had a conversation with him and told him how things are, understanding that there is competition," said in a press conference.

Ríos, Ronaldo Cisneros, and José González are players who can play as forwards and their qualities are above those of Ormeño, that's why the red-and-white coaching staff made that decision.

Despite the departure of the forward, there will be no other arrivals, as Paunovic appeals to the fact that the players from the current squad earn their place.

"If we have someone in the team who feels like a second or third option, and wants to leave, it's not for us. If they feel that they play a secondary role and want to improve, they have to earn it. With us, there are always opportunities, we evaluate the performance of each one closely and what we want is for them to feel involved," he commented.

"We're not looking for a change, those who are interpreting that they have a secondary role, let them fight for the main role in our team, that's something we will always instill."

After the hard-fought victory against Monterrey, for the red-and-white coach, his team is still evolving and needs to reach a better level in the coming weeks.

"Due to the late additions, some players are still missing to join, Alvarado, Vega, Guzmán, Cisneros, Ríos, they are attacking generators, our team is still coming together, this will improve in the upcoming weeks," he admitted.

"The team is in the formation phase, due to the late additions, in football, these things happen, you always suffer in football, our opponent suffered too, we will always suffer, the ability to tolerate suffering is what determines champions."

Chivas will face Atlético de San Luis on Friday at the Alfonso Lastras Stadium, where they have not won since the potosinos were promoted to the First Division in 2019.
