The Sultans of Monterrey tied the playoff series against the Algodoneros in the Mexican Pacific League.

The pitching of Sultanes de Monterrey combined to shut out Algodoneros de Guasave in the sixth game of the series, taking the victory by a score of 3-0, forcing the series to extend to seven games to determine a semifinalist in the 2022-2023 season of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico.

The Grey Ghosts took the lead on the scoreboard from the very first inning thanks to a ground ball to third base hit by Kennys Vargas, which allowed Carlos Figueroa to score from third base with the opening run for the regiomontana troop.

The Sultan pitching led by Linder Castro managed to escape on two occasions from a serious attack that the cotton troop planned in the fifth and sixth inning respectively. In the fifth inning, Castro entered the game with the bases loaded and no outs on the scoreboard and managed to hang a valuable zero by striking out Ramón Ramírez and later forcing Esteban Quiroz to ground into a double play. In the sixth inning, the Yucatecan repeated the feat when, with the bases loaded and one out on the scoreboard, he forced Ángel Erro into a double play to maintain the advantage.

The regiomontana troop managed to extend the lead in the game in the top of the seventh inning. Niko Hulsizer led off with a double to left-center field, a sacrifice bunt by Fernando Pérez took him to third base, and a single by Gilberto Galaviz allowed him to cross home plate with the second run of the game.

The definitive run came for Sultanes in the top of the eighth inning, after Carlos Figueroa drew a walk and a sacrifice bunt by Alberto Carreón took him to second base; Roberto Valenzuela connected a single to center field to drive in the run at home plate.

With a heroic relief appearance, Linder Castro earned the victory in the game after completing two innings of relief work, allowing one hit, striking out one opponent, and issuing two walks. Nico Tellache took the loss after giving up six hits and two runs in six and a third innings of work.

Sultanes and Algodoneros will seek to define the series in the seventh and decisive game, right-handed pitcher Kurt Heyer (0-1, 3.00) will be in charge of taking the mound for the regiomontana troop; Jeff Kinley (1-0, 1.50) will be the one responsible for starting the game for the Sinaloan troop.
