During the activities of the Mexico City Grand Prix, some former drivers were part of the competition called Legends Cup where Mario Domínguez, Paul Tracy, Michel Jourdain Jr., among others, participated.
However, one of the figures that stole the spotlight was Adrián Fernández, one of the last idols of motorsport.
The retired driver expressed his joy and gratitude for the way he is remembered on the tracks, he was even honored on the Muro de Honor located at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
"The wall of honors, that was something very significant because they are people that I grew up with, following my uncles in the races since I was young, and recognizing people is something beautiful because it keeps everything that is happening in the world of motorsport alive, the most beautiful thing is humility, recognition and gratitude, and we are many who have participated in order to have this great celebration."
The last time Fernández drove a race car was approximately 10 years ago, and in that time, he left behind his passion for motorsport to dedicate himself to his family.
"They gave me the gift of being able to drive Pedro Rodríguez's car, what do you want me to say?, it's been 10 years since I raced, I haven't gotten in a race car, and that was something very special."
The Mexican driver Esteban Gutiérrez couldn't hide his happiness at seeing the great atmosphere that has been experienced during the Mexico City Grand Prix.
When asked about his possible return to Formula 1, Gutiérrez made it clear that he feels comfortable in the role he plays in the business field within the Mercedes team.
