Less than a month away from the World Cup, all the energy of the Mexican National Team is focused on Qatar 2022, but the Mexican Football Federation never stops thinking about the future, especially because it is very unlikely that Gerardo Martino will continue leading the 'Tricolor' after the tournament in the Middle East.
In that sense, media and rumors claim that after the World Cup, the 'Tata' would no longer be the coach of the national team, and the Federation would already be searching for a replacement for the new process, where Mexico, along with the United States and Canada, will host the 2026 World Cup and will have the commitment to make the best presentation in its history.
Closely watching Ignacio Ambriz
That is why among the options to replace Gerardo Martino, the name of Ignacio Ambriz has begun to sound strong. What 'Nacho' accomplished in Toluca is highly commendable, as he managed to eliminate the top favorite, Club América, from the Apertura 2022 tournament in their own stadium.
Moreover, he is a coach without much spotlight or controversy, and his teams work very well and end up defending a style, just like he did with the 'Panzas Verdes' of León, whom he transformed into a demolishing machine and led to two finals in his three years managing the team.
"We were up against a team that had a spectacular tournament, their statistics speak for themselves. I know our fans are excited, but we have taken an important step," commented Ignacio Ambriz after reaching the final.
Not the only option
Other names that have been mentioned include Guillermo Almada. The Pachuca coach will play his third Liga MX final and will have another opportunity to make it onto the list of winners in Mexican football.
