Toluca did not disappoint at the Estadio Azteca, after winning 2-1 in the first leg, and, despite having everyone against them, they drew 1-1 with América. At minute 29, Jorge Torres opened the scoring, but the home team reacted quickly and equalized through Alejandro Zendejas. They were even close to turning the game around, but VAR disallowed Henry Martín's goal in injury time for being offside. The result eliminated Fernando Ortiz's 'Águilas', who had dreams of winning their 14th title, and propelled Toluca to the final of the Liguilla MX.
